Hemp Lime Composite as a Natural Building Material for Proposed Walls in Irish Construction
Jack Fleming,
Atlantic Technological University

This research was conducted to investigate the opportunities for using hemp lime composite as a natural building material for proposed walls in Irish construction. There has been a resurgence of interest in older, more natural building materials and methods because of growing awareness of the risks associated with an overreliance on fossil fuels and increasing understanding of the detrimental side effects of synthetic building materials mass produced by highly industrialized processes. Hemp lime composite has many different uses in the construction industry, but for the purpose of this report its focus of application was on cast-in-situ proposed wall construction.
