Within this CPD Steve Edge of Salvedge Ltd explains what biophilia is and why we need it. As a Case Study he uses his most prestigious commission to date, which is for Manchester based architects AHR and their new £35 million HQ in Liverpool The Spine, for their clients the Royal College of Physicians. His role there has been to blend key Salutogenic and Biophilic Patterns with BREEAM and WELL Building Standards. He has already helped The Spine attain 101 out of a possible 110 WELL Credits, the highest of any (over 25,000) WELL Platinum certified buildings in the world; together with a BREEAM Outstanding. It opened in May this year and is already set to become one of the healthiest buildings in the world.
