You can elect to cancel your registration with the Institute during your professional career; however you can rejoin the Institute at any time.


Associate and affiliate re-entry

If you were an Associate member or affiliate you will need to just complete the joining process again and pay the re-instatement fee which is detailed in the subscription and fees document below.

Chartered Architectural Technologist lapsed for less than three years

If you attained the status of MCIAT and allowed your membership to lapse for less than three years, to re-instate your membership you will need to complete the joining process again and submit your previous CIAT registration number or proof of former membership along with the re-instatement fee which is detailed in the subscription and fees document below. 

Chartered Architectural Technologist lapsed for more than three years

If you attained the status of MCIAT and allowed your membership to lapse for more than three years, to re-instate your membership you must complete the professional practice units of the Chartered Architectural Technologist POP Record, followed by successful attendance at a Professional Practice Re-entry Interview. Before completing these units, you will need to apply as an affiliate. In order to register as an affiliate, you need to complete the joining process again and submit your previous CIAT registration number or proof of former membership along with the re-instatement fee which is detailed in the subscription and fees document below.

If you were a Chartered Member, you must demonstrate to the Institute that you have retained your competence via appropriate CPD, as laid down in A7 of the Code of Conduct. You will also need to complete a form outlining your CPD activities since being inactive.


How to re-join

To re-instate your registration you will need to complete the joining application form which you can complete online by clicking here and including the £70 (€83) application fee as well as the relevant annual subscription rate.
