Along with the citation, supporting documentation can be provided to further demonstrate how the nominee has met the Honorary Fellow criteria, but this is not a requirement.

Deadlines

The Honorary Fellow Panel meets twice a year. There are two deadlines per year for a citation; 31 January and 31 July. Nominations received after these dates will be held until the next meeting of the Panel.

Decision

The Honorary Fellow Panel will consider the nomination based on the submitted application only.

If the nomination is successful, the Panel will:

  • advise the nominator(s) of the decision in writing;
  •  advise the nominee in writing;
  • invite the proposed Honorary Fellow to accept or reject the award within 14 days by completing the Honorary Fellow membership form; and
  • advise the nominator(s) and Honorary Fellow that the decision is to remain confidential until it is announced by the Institute.

If the submission is unsuccessful, the Panel will:

  • advise the nominator(s) of the decision in writing; and
  • advise that the individual can be nominated again, provided the submission is a revised citation from the previous submission.

There is no guarantee that a submission will be successful and result in the award of Honorary Fellow, HonFCIAT accolade.

The decision of the Honorary Fellow Panel is final.
