Central Region have organised a talk on The Building Safety Act to try to clarify some misunderstandings, for instance, regarding the term Principal Designer, that concerns many of us making Building Regulation Applications.
As I am sure you know The Building Safety Act 2022 is a UK law overhauling building regulations in England and Wales, focusing on fire and structural safety, particularly for higher-risk buildings & introduced us to the "Building Safety Regulator", Gateway approvals for high-rise (18m+/7+ storeys) construction, and "golden thread" information management. However as Oct 2023 it also places emphasis on the designer and contractor in respect of compliance with the building regulations even for low rise construction. This talk is intended to help clarify some of the common misunderstandings including the somewhat confusing terms Government has introduced namely ‘Principal Designer’, ‘Principal Contractor’ and ‘Contractor’ in the BSA (which are not the same roles as defined in Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
Delivered by Syrena Tarone, Registered Building Inspector & Associate Director at Stroma Building Control, a national Registered Building Control Approver.
