AT students win Black Isle tartan factory design competition

Architectural Technology students from Inverness College UHI have won a competition to design a tartan weaving mill on the Black Isle in the Scottish highlands.

The competition was devised by Clare Campbell, founder of the Prickly Thistle tartan design studio, who set students the task of designing a new mill to be housed in a disused farm.

Students Martyn Donaldson, Andrew Maggs, Rory MacFarlane, Stuart Miller and Ryan Nelson designed the winning concept.

The design will now be sent for planning permission and building consent.
