CLC launches survey into Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) | England

Companies from across industry in England are being asked to take part in a review of construction's growing PII crisis.

The Construction Leadership Council (CLC), which is a liaison group between Government and industry, is collating evidence on the impact of obtaining professional indemnity insurance post-Grenfell.

In the aftermath of the Grenfell tragedy and the widespread fire and safety issues that have come to light, the CLC is aware that there have been impacts on the cost of PI insurance, and the scope of cover available, for both consultants and contractors. As such, this could make it unviable for practices and individuals to carry on working and practising in the sector, particularly where their work involves higher rise buildings and external wall remediation.

In order for the Government to understand how serious the situation is, it is seeking more detailed information on the extent of the problems companies face. To this end, the Government and the Construction Leadership Council's PII sub-group, comprising of people representing all sectors of the industry, have drawn up this anonymous survey to help gain a clearer picture. It will only take a few minutes of your time but the information CLC receive is important.

Find the survey here. It closes on 12 March 2021.
