Consultation: Changing Places Toilets (Scotland only)

Changing Places Toilets offer larger, supported facilities that address the needs of people for whom current accessible sanitary accommodation is inadequate.

The Institute has been asked to comment on the following consultation.

Changing Places Toilets offer larger, supported facilities that address the needs of people for whom current accessible sanitary accommodation is inadequate.

These facilities enable people with complex care needs to take part in everyday activities, and a network of Changing Places Toilets exists across Scotland but there is no current legislation requiring their provision within buildings.

Through consultation, it is hoped that we seek to determine a proportionate and equitable requirement is determined, set through building standards, for the provision of such facilities as part of new development.

The details of this consultation can be accessed at https://consult.gov.scot/building-standards/changing-places-toilets/

You may respond directly, however if you do wish to provide a comment on this to be considered for inclusion in CIAT’s response, please forward these to Graham Chalkley, Assistant Practice Director, at [email protected] by Tuesday 7 May 2019.
