CIAT supports Housing Design Awards
2017’s Housing Design Awards, supported by CIAT, will be celebrating a broad mix of new housing developments in a push to showcase how best to build in the countryside, the city, and through new procurement routes such as custom-build. The deadline for the Awards has now been extended to 6 March.
The 69th year of the Awards, a partnership between government, its agencies and major industry stakeholders, sees the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs address the issue of design in the countryside with a new award for schemes that respond best to their location.
The new award will stand alongside a number of other recently launched specialist categories designed to showcase the best in areas where previously the country had little experience. In 2016 the London Sustainable Development Commission launched an award for the best example of sustainable high density housing in London which went to the The Scene in Walthamstow (shown above in banner), a superb example of creating a destination through layering residential and commercial property over transport links.
