London Festival of Architecture Open Studios
LFA Open Studios returns to the London Festival of Architecture once again for 2017. One of the most popular elements of the festival, Open Studios is a fantastic way for practices and firms to show off their work to a huge public and professional audience. It’s a chance to have fun, showcase what makes you special and make new connections.
For the first time CIAT with the RIBA, Landscape Institute, New London Architecture and the Institution of Structural Engineers have collaborated together to support this scheme and invite you to consider participating and encourage your practice or firm to take part. This is a unique event for the public, clients and other building professionals to see, experience and understand the design work that goes into making a building.
LFA Open Studios is an opportunity for the thousands of people who take part in the London Festival of Architecture to enjoy a behind the scenes glimpse into the life of London’s built environment practices. It’s entirely up to your practice to decide what you can do: for instance it could be an exhibition, a talk, a drop-in design surgery, or a model-making workshop for children. Past experience has shown that there is enormous public appetite for LFA Open Studios – firms should use their imaginations and let public curiosity do the rest!
Open Studios hubs are being hosted in four core areas of London for architecture they are: Southbank (02/03 June), Fitzrovia (09/10 June), Shoreditch (16/17 June) and Clerkenwell (24/25 June). LFA are actively recruiting practices for these areas which will involve activity on either the Friday or Saturday of the specified weekend or both if preferred. LFA will support these practices with co-ordinated marketing, curated tours and additional fringe activity.
Events can be at any time of day, although it has been found that weekend or evening events work particularly well. We also encourage all practices in the hub areas to open for an after work apertivo on the Friday night, 18:00-21:00.
If you would like to take part in LFA Open Studios 2017 please contact [email protected] or contact the Communications Department at CIAT, [email protected]. The call for entries close on 21 March.
To help the LFA marketing team, please provide some useful high resolution images that represent your practice or your proposal. They will also need contact details, as well as the practice’s web and any social media addresses so we can spread the word.
We hope you will support and get involved with this exciting scheme.
