Glorious MUD
A new film has been launched outlining a recent design workshop for a metropolitan railway system for south Wales, which includes input from CIAT's aspirATion group for students and recent graduates.
The MUD (Metro Urban Design) workshop held in September, organised by Design Circle (RSAW), and in collaboration with CIAT's aspirATion Group, Generation for Change (part of industry body Constructing Excellence) and other local organisations.
The film outlines the creative thinking processes involved and the benefits that new Metro stations could bring to the greater Cardiff area. The outcomes have been submitted to Cardiff Council's strategic planning department as part of ongoing consultations.
Dan Rossiter MCIAT, chair of the Wales Region aspirATion group, spoke at the event and appears in the film. He said 'this film gives just a brief outline of the huge amount of collaborative work done by design professionals, free of charge, not only to improve the built environment in the south Wales area but to hopefully inspire other parts of the country to do the same. It's also a good example of how professionals from different disciplines can work together to achieve common goals.'
