President & CEO recent visits

The Institute's President and CEO recently met with the CEO of RIBA and visited an AT Awards winning project.

On 30 May, Eddie Weir PCIAT and Tara Page, Chief Executive had the pleasure of joining Valerie Vaughan-Dick, Chief Executive of RIBA and Joanne Burden, RIBA’s House of Architecture lead for lunch.

In the spirit of our long-standing Memorandum of Understanding, the conversation focused on strengthening our collaboration, exploring joint initiatives, and enhancing our promotional efforts. By working more closely together, we aim to amplify our collective voice and advocate more effectively for our members and affiliates and the wider built environment.

Discussions were held on the pressing issues within industry which must be prioritised by the next government, such as building safety, retrofit, infrastructure development, skills shortages and the importance of qualified, competent professionals.

The following day, both Eddie and Tara spent the day in Mildenhall visiting the AT Awards 203 'Large to Mega' winning project in the Award for Excellence in Architectural Technology category; Mildenhall Hub. The hub integrates (among others) an academy, pre-school, leisure centre, public library, health centre, and police, government and local authority offices. The project's goal was to reduce overheads and create better cost and environmental efficiencies while modernising facilities and providing flexible spaces that can adapt to future changes.  The design adheres to the 'Be Lean, Be Clean, Be Green' principles, significantly reducing carbon emissions.
