Architectural Technology educational standards developed for Republic of Ireland
CIAT welcomes the development of educational standards for Architectural Technology in Ireland, led by the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), which were recently out for public consultation. The suite of educational standards ranges from Levels 6 to 9 on the Irish National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). QQI is a state agency whose functions include maintenance of the NFQ, setting standards for awards as well as being an awarding body. CIAT has been involved in the development of the Irish Standards for Architectural Technology with representation on the Expert Panel. These standards were developed as a result of government-level discussions and pressure from CIAT to include Competent Architectural Technologists in the Irish Building Control (Amendment) Regulations 2014 and permit them to act as the Assigned Certifier or Design Certifier.
CIAT’s response to the consultation on the draft standards is attached.
