Down but not out: Think Deep group launches
Think Deep UK is a newly formed group of built environment experts, questioning how cities could be transformed by using the space beneath them.
With steep competition for space in cities and limits on high rise buildings there is growing investment in novel underground development. The ground beneath our cities is not just reserved for drains, trains and cars, it is also being used for urban underground farming, iceberg mansions, underground data centres and flood storage. The group claims there are many socio-economic benefits that may be delivered through the smart use of urban underground space.
Experts within Think Deep UK – a combination of urban planners, designers, lawyers, geotechnical engineers and geologists – are joining forces to raise awareness and inform decision-makers of these issues and opportunities.
A launch event will take place on 7 February at St Bride's church, London - appropriately in the crypt. For more information please click here.
