To enable the Institute to uphold that our members have demonstrated their competence to gain as well as maintain their level of membership, it is a requirement that all members (excluding student members) undertake a minimum of 35 hours of CPD per annum, as per Clause 7 of the Institute's Code of Conduct, which states:
Clause 7: Continuing Professional Development The members (excluding student members) shall:
a) keep themselves informed of current practices and developments appropriate to the type and level of their responsibilities; and
b) be able to provide evidence that they have complied with the requirements for continuing professional development (CPD) as published by the Institute from time to time.
In order for CIAT to be confident in its promotion of and in compliance with Institute policy, 5% of eligible members will be randomly selected for CPD monitoring.
What do I need to do? To comply, you will need to declare that you have undertaken 35 hours of CPD within the period May 2018 – April 2019.
If you have been emailed by the Institute over the last few weeks with a request of confirmation of your CPD but you have not yet responded, in order that we can update your details please send an email to [email protected] confirming that you have undertaken 35 hours of CPD by 30 June 2019.
Information on CPD and what it entails can be found on the website (please clickhere).
As per the Institute's policy, failure to declare that you have undertaken the required hours of CPD could result in you being monitored on your CPD activity for the next three years, referral to the Conduct Committee for consideration or investigation as per the Institute's Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures.
Please note that you do not need to return your CPD Record Card or provide evidence of what CPD you have done – this is for your use and your retention only.
