Please join the North West Region for its Second Regional Conference Celebrating Projects, Practices and People, to be held in the Manchester base of the Material Source Studio at 1 Federation Street, NOMA, Manchester, M4 4BF (a 3 minute walk from Manchester Victoria Station).

‘Material Source Studio brings together product and material insight and inspiration, plus much more, under one roof, and offered all year round.’ At the event venue you will see 50+ installations from interiors commercial suppliers.

The Conference opens at 10am, is free to attend, refreshments and a lunch will be provided, and will finish at 17:00.

The First Regional Conference in Liverpool 2023 at The Spine was a great success and like that event there will be a mix of large and small projects discussed, as well both specialist and personal accounts of dealing with issues such as accessibility and sustainability.

Like the Liverpool event, Manchester will be an excellent opportunity to meet fellow members over a breakfast croissant, a cup of tea, or lunch, as well as students from the Region and other practitioners interested in learning more about Architectural Technology and the work created in the Region.

We are pleased to welcome President Elect, Usman Yaqub FCIAT, to open the event. We are finalising the final schedule, and among the presentations from Architectural Technologists and other practitioners are:

  • AEW Architects evaluating the Oldham Spindles and StockBox, Stockport schemes taking existing shopping centres and consolidating them through refits and refurbishments to offer new retail spaces as well as community and commercial spaces for other uses.
  • Buttress Architects examining their Passivhaus schemes, including Willohaus in Salford.
  • Donald Insall Associates Architects & Heritage Consiltants discussing the restoration works undertaken at Rochdale Town Hall.
  • Seven Architecture detailing the restoration works at Withington Baths, Manchester.
  • MIMA Group, Inclusive Design Consultants discussing design elements relating to Wayfinding and other accessibility and inclusion aspects.
  • Nicola Thorpe, Urbanism specialist reflecting on navigating the urban environment while living with a neurological condition.
  • Forbo Flooring Systems discussing the circular economy and related sustainability considerations.
  • Randstad Recruitment offering insight into the current employment market.
  • CIAT Membership attending to provide advice on progression routes.

The full schedule will be issued in advance of the event.
