£7bn schools framework launched

The Department for Education (DfE) has launched a £7bn framework for the construction of schools, academies, university technical colleges, sixth form colleges, and further education colleges.

Split into 22 different lots, according to geographical area, the framework lasts for four years.

The first two lots are 'high value bands', split between the North and the South. The high value band for the North is worth £1.25bn, while the high value band for the South is worth £2.25bn.

The DfE said bidders may apply for any lot at selection stage and may be invited to tender for any lot but may not be appointed to "overlapping" lots.

The deadline for tenders or requests to participate is 5 February.
