CLC Golden Thread guidance for HRBs

The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) has released new guidance on the golden thread of information requirements for higher-risk buildings.

This guidance is designed to support dutyholders and accountable persons in managing and maintaining the crucial information needed to ensure the safety of these buildings through their lifecycle.

Developed by an industry working group with extensive experience in the design, construction, and management of higher-risk buildings, this guidance provides clear direction on the types of information that must be generated, maintained, and handed over during each phase of a building's life – from design and construction through to occupancy. The golden thread ensures that all relevant parties have access to the information necessary to keep both the building and its occupants safe.

Dan Rossiter FCIAT, Vice-President Technical, notes:

The Golden Thread was one of the key recommendations outlined by Dame Judith Hackitt in her 2018 building safety review. This guidance helps accountable persons and dutyholders, such as lead designers, to understand their duties to provide and maintain accurate information relating to fire and structural safety.
