Climate Society – One year on

Next week marks the Society's first full year in operation.

In that time, members have:

  • Raised national standards
Contributed technical input to the newly published BSI Flex: Competence Framework for Sustainability in the Built Environment, now an industry reference point.
  • Shared knowledge
Delivered talks at Society meetings on topics such as Opportunities in Commercial Retrofit and Domestic Retrofit at Scale. Our debut information sheet, Sustainable Design – Technical Solutions, goes to press this month.
  • Amplified our voice
Chair Chris Halligan's interview in AT Journal showcased the Society's mission to thousands across the built environment community. He has also represented CIAT at events including the Building Designers of Australia Sustainability Summit.

What we're currently working on

  • Drafting CIAT's position statement om Part Z – the proposed Building Regulations amendment on embodied carbon - laying vital groundwork ahead of expected legislation.
  • Refreshing how climate issues (and the Society itself) are presented on CIAT's website, to make resources easier to find and act on.
