CPD monitoring period for 1 May 2022 - 30 April 2023 coming to an end

Members (excluding student members) and affiliates are required to undertake a minimum of 35 hours CPD per annum.

Each year 5% of eligible members and affiliates are selected for CPD monitoring to ensure they are in compliance.

The Institute's Code of Conduct states the following:

Clause A7: Continuing Professional Development
The members (excluding student members) shall:

  • A7a) keep themselves informed of current practices and developments appropriate to the type and level of their responsibilities; and
  • A7b) be able to provide evidence that they have complied with the requirements for continuing professional development (CPD) as published by the Institute from time to time.

Clause B7: Continuing Professional Development
Affiliates shall:

  • B7a) keep themselves informed of current practices and developments appropriate to the type and level of their responsibilities; and
  • B7b) be able to provide evidence that they have complied with the requirements for continuing professional development (CPD) as published by the Institute from time to time.

The CPD monitoring requests for 2022-2023 will be sent out in May 2023 to those that have been selected, asking for declaration that confirms the required CPD hours were undertaken.

As per the Institute's policy, not forwarding your declaration could result in you being monitored on your CPD activity for the next three years, or referral to the Conduct Committee for consideration, or investigation as per the Institute's Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures.

To support its members and affiliates, the Institute offers an online platform to find relevant courses to support their professional development.

The AT CPD Register is an online directory of providers and their courses which have been assessed and deemed to be of a high standard, current and relevant to Architectural Technology professionals.

The Institute also has an additional resource called the CPD Catalogue which comprises of content and events arranged by CIAT's Regions, Centres and aspirATion Groups (RCAGs) and other like-minded organisations. Although this content has not been assessed, they may still be of interest and would contribute towards CPD.

Members and affiliates are able to maintain and update their individual CPD activity via the 'My CPD' section in the 'Members Only' area of the website. Each activity can be logged, and any associated files uploaded with a time tracker to assist in calculating the number of hours undertaken.

Please note that you do not need to provide any evidence of what CPD you have done between 1 May 2022 and 30 April 2023 – this information is for your use and retention only.
