Government tenders £32m Grenfell Tower contract

The Government has begun the search for a principal contractor to look after the Grenfell Tower site.

The £32m project involves management and maintenance of the propping and scaffold regime, provision of site services and welfare facilities, security, maintenance of hoardings, traffic management and other general site management duties.

The contract is for an initial 12 months, extendable for up to 24 months based on increments of six months.

The procurement process is expected to involve up to five candidates, with invitations to tender sent out by February 2021.

The remains of the 24-storey are needed for evidential purposes while the Grenfell Tower Inquiry continues. Once the Inquiry has concluded, it is expected that it will be demolished and a memorial erected in its place.
