Opportunity | Northern Ireland building safety stakeholder engagement
The Northern Ireland Executive, Department of Communities is seeking expressions of interest to join stakeholder engagement groups focused on safety in high-rise residential buildings (HRRBs).
These groups, including one for industry design professionals, will support the roll out of policy to address the recommendations of the Hackitt Review (and, CIAT anticipates, also the Grenfell Inquiry).
Key focuses for the Design (industry) Group (designated as "Group C1") will include:
- identifying gaps, weaknesses and issues in the current HRRB safety system;
- establishing controlled gateways at key milestones;
- roles, responsibilities, certification, verification and quality control;
- competency requirements of the roles in the BSA, and;
- the potential and impact of other changes in the residential building safety system.
CIAT is keen to ensure that the Architectural Technology profession is well represented in these conservations, and strongly encourages Members in Northern Ireland to put themselves forward to join the group.
Expressions of interest should be sent to [email protected] by close of business on Wednesday 6 November 2024.
For more information on the groups and their focus, please email [email protected]. Members wishing to submit an expression of interest are encouraged to also update CIAT on their progress and future involvement.
