Planning Portal confirms 2025/26 fee uplift
Planning Portal operator, TerraQuest, has confirmed the 2025/26 service fee for planning applications made using the service.
From 31 March 2025, the service charge will rise to £70.33+VAT, while the minimum fee threshold will increase from £60 to £100, meaning applications attracting planning fees below £100 will not need to pay a Planning Portal service fee.
The move also coincides with substantial increases to planning application fees set by central government, bringing significant additional payment processing fees.
Geoff Keal, CEO at Planning Portal, said:
These changes are essential in supporting the continued development and maintenance of Planning Portal. The service fee directly funds innovations that enhance efficiency, reduce invalidation and ensure legislative compliance – ultimately benefiting both applicants and local planning authorities.
Through ongoing investment, our team is working to improve automation and data accuracy tools within Planning Portal, as well as ensuring new legislation and policy updates are implemented quickly to keep users informed and prepared. At the same time, we put considerable effort to ensuring our tools are user-friendly, simplifying processes and reducing administrative burdens.
