Updates to Approved Documents in England and Technical Booklets in Northern Ireland

Updates to the Approved Documents in England and the Building Regulations and Technical Booklets in Northern Ireland.

The Government has recently published updates to the following Approved Documents, due to a previous publishing error. These take effect on 15 June 2022.

• Infrastructure for charging electric vehicles: Approved Document S
• Overheating: Approved Document O
• Conservation of fuel and power: Approved Document L
• Ventilation: Approved Document F

The Northern Ireland Executive has published an amendment to the following Building Regulations and Technical Booklets which is due to come into force on 1 April 2022:

• Technical Booklet B – Materials and workmanship
• Technical Booklet C – Site preparation and resistance to contaminants and moisture
• Technical Booklet E – Fire Safety

The previous editions of the Technical Booklets will continue to apply to work started before 1 April or 30 June 2022 respectively and to work subject to a building notice or full plans applications submitted before these dates.
