Sutton Rose/Boldmere Court
Paul Burton, A P Architecture Ltd

The client's vision was to create a community facility which allowed residents of the care home to become part of the wider community, along with the residents of the assisted living apartments. The site was a former adult education facility and the local council were keen to see a community facility on the vacant site. The client required a development which would be fully encompassing, allowing all parties to come together as a family, whilst maintaining security of the residents. To develop the site to its full potential, it was necessary to locate all of the required parking within a basement area which would require over 35,000m2 of material to be removed from site. The care home would look to provide both nursing and dementia care. The local planning authority were keen to see a contemporary design, whilst taking reference from the local area which was predominantly 2-storey residential properties.
