Belfast | Building Inspiration Lecture
Jonathan Falkingham of Urban Splash will deliver the Building Inspiration Lecture
The Building Inspiration Lecture is a public talk in Belfast delivered by one of the world’s leading architects or leading architectural practices and its aim is to raise people’s aspirations of what architecture can do for this region. It is an opportunity to inspire local designers and to engage clients, policy makers, politicians and the public.
Jonathan Falkingham set up design practice shedkm in North-West England in 1991. Two years later, in 1993, he co-founded Urban Splash alongside Tom Bloxham. Since then, Urban Splash’s work has been recognised by over 475 awards. The first phase of Urban Splash’s Park Hill scheme was shortlisted for the Stirling Prize in 2013 and the second phase has recently been awarded a RIBA National Award. Their Brick House, Port Loop project also received a RIBA National Award in 2023. Urban Splash’s current work focuses on creating large-scale neighbourhoods in cities, such as New Islington in Manchester.
