JOB DESCRIPTION & PERSON SPECIFICATION JOB TITLE: Senior Architectural Technologist
REPORTS TO: Head of Design
LOCATION: Derby/Hybrid
CONTRACT: Permanent
SALARY: £38-£42k dependent on experience

Coactivation Ltd are a young family-run retrofit practice, working throughout the UK to deliver improved homes with reduced CO2 emissions. Working mainly with social housing providers, we have helped to deliver energy efficiency retrofit to hundreds of social and private homes, alleviating fuel poverty for residents and helping our clients to achieve their net zero carbon plans. Coactivation provide wrap around services within Retrofit PAS 2035 from the initial retrofit assessment to retrofit design and including retrofit coordination. As part of our ambitious growth plans, we are looking to take on a Senior Architectural Technologist to assist the Head of Design in their management and mentoring of the design team.

Ideally, we are looking for someone with experience in retrofit and if you already have a Domestic Energy Assessment qualification and or retrofit designer qualification then that would be a bonus but as a minimum we require:

  • MCIAT accreditation for at least 2 years
  • Experience of retrofit housing upgrades
  • Full project delivery experience
  • Great Revit skills
  • A passion for decarbonisation of the UK housing stock

JOB PURPOSE
The role will be split between team management and project delivery, feeding into the continuous development of the design team. The design team get involved at all stages of design development by undertaking initial surveys thereby fully understanding the design issues to be solved, before getting stuck into the individual property design. The workflow at Coactivation adheres strictly to PAS 2035 due to the government funding streams that pay for the implementation of the works. Ultimately Coactivation look to deliver projects on time, on budget and to a high level of quality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • To undertake energy performance and retrofit assessments of key target properties on new programmes of work
  • To map out programme wide energy efficiency measures on new projects
  • To develop design proposals to meet project objectives in relation to energy efficiency measures
  • To confidently communicate design proposals to colleagues and project teams
  • To coordinate with commercial, project management and installation teams to ensure a cohesive deliverable design.
  • Attendance of design team and project team meetings and preparing and issuing meeting minutes where required.
  • Monitoring and reporting on project progress ensuring deadlines are met
  • Working with the team to ensure that design outputs meet the required quality control.
  • To mentor junior members of the team to be able to deliver similar levels of professionalism and accuracy

KEY PERSONAL QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE

  • MCIAT accreditation for min 2 years.
  • Extensive use of Revit and able to share good practice.
  • Good team player with ability to provide leadership and guidance.
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task and manage your time effectively.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build collaborative working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Ability to highlight and implement process improvements to ensure continuous improvement of the design process.
  • Passionate about decarbonisation of the UK’s existing housing stock.
