These Conditions have been approved by the Institute’s lawyers and should not be amended or adapted in any way if they reference CIAT.

Use of the Institute’s Conditions is not mandatory, but Members (practising Chartered ATs) are encouraged to use them or find a suitable alternative for their domestic projects, as Terms of Engagement must be given in writing to the client and the practising Chartered AT must satisfy themselves that they have been accepted (Clause A5).

Terms are to include:

  • the scope of services,
  • timing and fee (or method of fee calculation) to be charged.

The services offered and provided are to be constrained by the requirements of the Code (Clause A5).  For further explanatory notes click here.

Note: Confirrmation of Instructions for Domestic Projects, may be used in conjunction with the Conditions of Engagement for Domestic Projects to outline the charges and scope of works, so, check out details on CIAT’s Contract Administration Forms.
