Guided tour of the Energy House 2.0 laboratory, including the environmental testing chamber containing two full detached modern houses.
A great opportunity for Regional members and affiliates to have a guided tour of Energy House 2.0, part of the Energy House Labs that include a second testing chamber where they are currently building a 1930s and a 1980s house for future projects, and Energy House 1.0 where an end-of-terrace pre-1919 house as well as other facilities.
Check the wider range of their work here.
Within Energy House 2.0 the temperature can be dropped to -23.5°C and raised to +51°C with weather rigs capable of creating wind and rain and with this facility experiments have ranged from testing the effectiveness of the most cutting edge materials and systems, to Cost of Living improvements relating to incremental changes to living habits, heavy curtains to retain head included.
We can only offer limited numbers for this visit of 25, though we have requested a return visit once the 1930s and 1980s houses are complete.
Please contact the Regional Chair or the Continuous Professional Development Officer for the Region, Colin on [email protected] or George [email protected] to reserve a space.
If we are oversubscribed we will keep a reserve list and prioritise those who do not get a space for a return visit, or the 1930s/80s house visit.
