BRE dementia home virtual visit

A virtual visit to a BRE Trust demonstration home for those living with dementia.

Dementia is a growing challenge for both the UK and Finland.

Around 850,000 people in the UK currently have dementia, and the number of people with dementia is predicted to double in the next 30 years. Finland has one of the oldest populations in Europe, and around 14,500 people are diagnosed with a dementing disease each year.

How do we plan and deliver services for the rapidly growing elderly population, and adapt services to manage the rising challenge of dementia?

BRE Trust have built a demonstration home for those living with dementia, which presents evidence-based design, adaptation and support solutions.

The Department for International Trade, British Embassy in Helsinki and BRE Trust organised a virtual visit to the BRE Dementia Home on 8 December 2020.

You can watch the virtual visit at bretrust.org.uk and read more about the Dementia House Project here.
