EuroSkills 2023: AT graduate & Associate member wins gold

Isabelle Barron, an AT graduate and Associate member, has won gold representing the UK at EuroSkills 2023, held in Poland.

Isabelle, who graduated from the CIAT Accredited degree programme at Sheffield Hallam University and now works at Chapman Taylor, won gold for her specialism in digital construction.

Isabelle said: "Taking part in EuroSkills has been a dream come true! Having the opportunity to showcase my skills on the European stage has been a life changing event that I will never forget. The atmosphere and scale of EuroSkills was like nothing I have ever experienced before and representing my country as part of Team UK was an honour that I can't quite put into words.

As well as winning gold, she was also awarded the coveted "best in nation" title for the UK.

Isabelle continues: "I am incredibly proud to have brought home a gold medal and earned the title of the best in Europe at the Digital Construction skill as well as receiving the "best in nation" medal. What I have achieved still hasn't fully sunk in but it has been worth every hour of training and preparation and all the free time sacrificed to get to this point. However, the best part of the whole experience by far was feeling like part of the WorldSkills UK family, supporting one another throughout the competition days and celebrating each other's achievements.

"I could not have achieved my gold medal without the support of my training manager Michael McGuire, who I would love to thank for believing in me and pushing me to show the international competition what I can do. Relatively, this is only the beginning of my WorldSkills journey and I can't wait to see what opportunities it will bring."
