Opportunity from BSI

CIAT's Practice & Technical Department are delighted to offer members the rare opportunity to join the British Standards Institute (BSI) and to become the chair of the B/554 Dimensions and Accuracy - Building construction committee.

The role is an important one which is highly suited to our members, as Chartered Architectural Technologists and leaders in our field.

This Standard is related to other Standards key to our work as Chartered Architectural Technologists, including BIM, and other related topics such as MMC and modular coordination.

These vacancies arise on occasion and provide a great opportunity for self-development.  Being a BSI committee chair is an important leadership role and one which requires a close and effective working relationship with BSI.

CIAT feels that this would be a great opportunity for a member to explore involvement with BSI, helping to shape the future of British Standards, Flex, and ISO amongst other standards.

What does the role involve I hear you say?

Chairing meetings with like-minded people from across the construction industry.

 The CSC (Committee Service Centre) from the BSI will help support meetings through:

  • setting up the virtual meeting;
  • providing a draft agenda template; and,
  • taking a list of actions, outcomes and decisions in meetings.

The meetings themselves will occur when necessary.

If you would like to put yourself forward, please use this link to complete the Expression of Interest form and we will send you the link to the application.

Applications must be with the BSI no later than 31 October 2024.

If you wish to discuss the role with a member of CIAT staff, please contact Sarah May on +44 (0)20 7278 2206 or via email to [email protected]
