Become a member of the Conduct Committee

We are actively recruiting to our Conduct Committee and eligible individuals are encouraged to apply.

Why should you apply?

  • Support the profession
You will be supporting the Institute to ensure high standards, both internally and amongst the members and affiliates, develop policy and strategy based on member insight and expertise and amplify the voice of members to encourage systemic change.
  • Invest in your professional development
By joining the Conduct Committee you will meet new people, learn new skills and gain knowledge, listen to and learn from others' perspectives and play a crucial part in ensuring rigour in the organisation.

The Conduct Committee is a dynamic, thought provoking and rewarding Committee which regulates the actions of and maintains the high standard of professionalism expected from members and affiliates. The Committee deals with a wide variety of topics and issues, and the ability to bring a fresh perspective to these discussions is essential.

It is a two year post and commences from March 2022.

As an active participant of the Committee you will be required to attend the quarterly Committee meetings, which on average looks at approximately eight Conduct cases a year. You will be required to analyse Complaint case files and papers relating to Institute policy prior to meetings and contribute to regular discussion/debate by email. The ability to juggle a varied and demanding workload and deal with communication by email within relatively short timescales are also essential.

"As a past member of the Conduct Committee, I can thoroughly recommend joining this small, but important team. It is essential that you possess the natural aptitude and discipline that is required to review papers relating to complaints and the other issues that are presented to this Committee. Being part of this group will not only give you an insight into how CIAT operates, but it will also enhance your own abilities to debate and work with a likeminded team, ultimately arriving at correct and informed decisions." – Robin Dodyk FCIAT

As part of the Institute's ethos of inclusiveness and succession planning, and ensuring a balance of representation, we would ideally like to receive expressions of interest from Chartered Architectural Technologists who are employed and based in locations other than the West and East Midlands, which is currently represented on this Committee.

Please note that all posts on the Conduct Committee are voluntary and unpaid, however, your expenses are covered via the Institute's expense claims policy.

If you are interested in this position or if you wish to discuss this post further, please email [email protected], providing your name, membership number and a statement explaining why you feel that you should be considered for this post on the Committee. Please ensure that these are submitted by Thursday 24 February 2022.
