Consultation outcome: The Future Homes Standard: changes to Part L and Part F of the Building Regulations for new dwellings

Outcome of the public consultation on proposed changes to the Building Regulations (England only).

The UK Government hosted a public consultation from 1 October 2019 to 7 February 2020 on proposed changes to the Building Regulations.

This was the first stage of a 2-part consultation which proposed an ambitious uplift in the energy efficiency of new homes through changes to Part L (Conservation of fuel and power) of the Building Regulations. The second stage has now been published as the Future Buildings Standard.

Kevin Crawford MCIAT, President-Elect and Chair of CIAT's Technical Standards Taskforce, said: "The Westminster government has now published its outcomes on the recent Future Homes Standard and I would like to thank all the members who contributed to the CIAT response. It is with the members' contributions that we as a professional body can advance the discipline of architectural technology and influence policy and direction."
