IStructE Showcase 2020

The Structural Awards 2020 project submissions will be showcased online, launching 6 November.

The Structural Awards, hosted by the The Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), have celebrated the very best of structural engineering for more than 50 years. This year they have taken the difficult decision to postpone the judging and the ceremony until 2021.

Instead, this year's submissions will be showcased. Viewed together, they demonstrate the global nature of the profession. Their scope and scale show the integral role structural engineers play in shaping the the world around us.

The projects have been grouped under four structural themes:

1. Achieving architectural vision
Showcasing structures created through a close collaboration between engineer and designer.

2. Challenging construction
Showcasing structures that overcame challenging site conditions, extreme environmental factors and short construction sequences.

3. Creative design
Showcasing unique structures that required a creative approach to engineering design and/or the use of modern digital design tools.

4. Sustainable leadership
Showcasing projects that championed sustainable techniques, retained existing structures, embraced the circular economy and benefited society.

You can have your say
This is a unique opportunity to see the entries before the judges and mark out your ones to watch. You're encouraged to take a look at the showcase and cast your vote. Representatives from the project in each theme with the most votes will be invited to a prizegiving lunch in July 2021. The project will also be featured on the IStructE website.
