Research to support the circular economy in Scotland’s built environment

TRACE has developed a survey to better understand the barriers to materials reuse that it will need to address.

TRACE: Transforming Resources and Advancing Circular Economy is a collaborative project between Robert Gordon University, Heriot-Watt University, Stirling Reuse Hub and Adventurous Systems which aims to support the circular economy in Scotland’s built environment sector by developing a blockchain-enabled digital marketplace for reused materials. The platform aims to make reused materials as accessible and trustworthy as virgin alternatives, support job creation, reduce environmental impact and inform policy via evidence-based recommendations for reuse-hub networks.

To help develop the platform, TRACE has developed a survey to better understand the barriers to materials reuse that the platform will need to address, and they are welcoming responses from individuals with an interest in the topic, whether they are based in Scotland or not.

The questionnaire has 37 questions, covering

  • Participant profile
  • Personas and Roles in Promoting Circular Economy
  • Leverage Points
  • Information Management Structures
  • Practicalities
  • Trust, Quality, Verification and Liability
  • Cross-Legislative Considerations
  • Manufacturing, Lifecycle and Aftercare
  • Incentives and Benefits

Most questions are multiple choice. The survey should take around 20 minutes to complete.
