CIAT is hosting its AGM in Liverpool on Saturday 16 November 2024.
As well as completing the annual business meeting, it is also an opportunity for members and affiliates to come together for socialising, networking and learning.

The designated CIAT hotel for the weekend of events and activities is the Novotel in Paddington Village. The hotel is across a short walkway (30 seconds) from the AGM venue, making it an ideal location for your stay in Liverpool. It is also within easy reach of Liverpool City Centre and the many attractions it has to offer. Please note that unless already approved by Central Office, CIAT is unable to cover the cost of any hotel rooms. The Institute will be hosting a dedicated CIAT student event for those studying in and around Liverpool. The event will provide inspiration and insight for a future career in the discipline of Architectural Technology and the integral role of Architectural Technology professionals in the built environment. The event will feature a series of speakers, including CIAT President Eddie Weir, to answer all your questions about life after graduation, working as a Chartered Architectural Technologist and how you can progress your career to reach Chartered status. It is also an opportunity for you to get involved with our aspiration community and connect with other like-minded, career-focused individuals. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
CIAT Centres meeting
Location: MTC Venue, Liverpool Science Park, 131 Mount Pleasant L3 5TF
Time: 16:00 - 17:30
Cost: Free to attend but travel must be covered by the individual
The annual Centres meeting is an opportunity for all Voting Delegates and Councillors located in the CIAT Centres to come together to discuss activities, challenges and successes related specifically to living and working internationally. A full agenda will be prepared for the meeting but if there is an important issue you would like to be discussed, please submit your ideas in the booking form. Full remote attendance is available for those unable to attend in person. Tea, coffees and refreshments will be provided.
Friday night Regional event | CIAT North West
Location: Philharmonic Dining Rooms, 36 Hope Street L1 9BX
Time: 19:00 - 23:00
Cost: £25 (includes food and welcome drink)
In aid of two children living with medical complexities and family support charities Alder Hey House, Liverpool and Reuben's Retreat, Glossop, the North West Region will be hosting an evening of food, friendship and fun at one of Liverpool's most beautiful and iconic pubs, the Philharmonic Dining Rooms. Buddy Holly and Paul McCartney have both performed there over the years and the pub was known to be one of John Lennon's favourites. Known as the 'most ornate pub in England' it is a must see for any music loving fan and will make a fantastic setting for a wonderful evening.

AGM & Conference

The AGM is the annual business meeting for the Institute. A full agenda and papers will be provided electronically closer to the event. After the AGM, the Institute is hosting two CPD sessions along with a brief update on important Institute projects. A brief outline of the day is detailed below. Those attending are expected to stay for the duration of the day.

Session one A CPD session provided by Michael Jaggs from BRE on the new BS40102 Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ). The new standard provides guidance on how a non-domestic building can be rated against elements of IEQ and provide a scoring system. The guide includes thermal comfort, lighting, ventilation rates, indoor air quality, acoustics and sound scaping, post occupancy surveys, and scoring and rating.
Session two
A CPD session on the design and construction of the Spine led by AHR Architects. The Spine is a unique building where technical excellence and sustainable design meet to create a space accredited with the international WELL Building Standard and BREEAM certification. The presentation, led by Rob Hopkins, Regional Director, will showcase the design and construction of the building.
Session three
A brief session with feedback on key Institutes initiatives and projects that members and affiliates have contributed to. This will include the Events Review, Region and Centre Review and Membership Engagement Review.
14:00 - The Institute will be hosting an extended networking lunch allowing attendees to network with each other and Institute staff. A suggestion box will be available for attendees who have feedback or ideas for the Institute.
16:00 - Day closes
Remote attendance is possible for those who cannot attend in-person. However, in-person attendance is preferable to provide the best networking and engagement opportunities.
