Skills England seeks SME input through Innovation Forums

Skills England is establishing three SME-led Innovation Forums to explore challenges faced by smaller employers (10–50 employees) when engaging with the skills system.

The forums will focus on:

  • Understanding and navigating the skills system – identifying workforce needs and accessing appropriate skills solutions.

  • Working together to address shared skills challenges – exploring how SMEs can collaborate to overcome common barriers.

  • Making the business case for investing in skills – understanding the value of workforce development and skills investment.

The first forum, focusing on understanding and navigating the skills system, will be chaired by Jennifer Lewis of Smarty Pants Abbey Lane. It will meet online via Microsoft Teams on 2 and 30 November 2026 and 18 January 2027, from 13:00 - 14:30.

Skills England is inviting SME leaders to share their practical experience, contribute to discussions and help shape solutions that reflect the needs of smaller businesses. Participation involves three online sessions, with optional opportunities to contribute between meetings.
